What is Missinglettr?
Missinglettr automatically creates unique micro-content out of your blog posts and automatically schedules postings across multiple social profiles and helps you solve distribution by allowing you to share your posts to their high-quality curated posts library for others to share
How to automate your social media posts
Create a Missinglettr account
To get started the first thing we need to do is to create a Missinglettr account. We recommend getting the Pro plan since it unlocks the curated posts as well.
With the Pro plan you unlock:
- 3 Workspaces
- 9 Social Profiles
- 3,000 Scheduled Posts
- Unlimited Extra Users
- 10 Curate Posts per month
After creating your account you will be walked through the basic setup. Here you can see your brand name, logo, and colors.
Click “Next” and you can set up your posting times from timezone to days you wish to post.
Click “Next” again and you can see a preview of the automatically generated posts Missinglettr will create. You can easily choose the theme that fits best your brand or even create your own later on if you wish to do so.
The “Lorem ipsum…” part will be changed to real text when you generate social posts with Missinglettr, so there is no need to get worried about that part.
Clicking “Next” will lead you to the Missinglettr dashboard where you have a few more steps to go through to get started.
Setting up social profiles
When you reach your Missinglettr dashboard the first thing you need to set up is your social profiles. Go on and click the “Setup” button and you will be able to choose which social media accounts you want to link with Missinglettr. Remember that if you chose the Pro plan you can add up to 9 social profiles.
Add a content source
The second step to automate your social media posts from start to finish is to add the content source. This is required so Missinglettr knows where it can pull the content from. In this case, since we are using WordPress we will choose the “RSS Feed” option to pull our content.
You can find your site’s feed from my-site-url.com/feed/ meaning add the “/feed/” behind your site’s URL and you will find the WordPress RSS feed.
After adding the feed, you won’t see posts instantly. Missinglettr will scan the feed and import all posts it can so it might take a while. After it’s done, you will be able to see your posts in the “Campaign” section.
Adding the RSS feed is not a must and you can also create and automate posts manually, but it does help if you have a huge amount of posts that you want to drip feed to your social media.
Adding new drip campaigns
If we wish to add new drip campaigns manually, we simply head to the “Campaigns” and select the blue “+“-button from the bottom right corner. You will be prompt to insert your blog post URL so Missinglettr may pull the images and content directly from your site.
Missinglettr will take approx 30s to go through your content. After this, you will see the post editor, which will allow you to edit the post as you wish. You will be able to select the hashtags, media, and quotes you want Missinglettr to use when it generated you 12 months of social media posts.
If you don’t have enough images for all the social media posts, Missinglettr will use the template you chose earlier on to use your logo, colors, and the selected quotes to create an image for you. You can also use stock photos if you wish to do so.
After a while, you can also see analytics on each drip campaign’s clicks and how it’s done by simply clicking it and opening it. This is a great way to quickly see how well each of your drip campaigns has done, how many posts there have been, and when it has caught the most traction.
Adding posts manually
If you wish to add posts manually you can do it in the scheduled content view. Select the “+“- button from the bottom right corner and select “Post“. Now you can share whatever you wish and even select which social media profiles it will be shared with.
If you ever want to change the date when the post is sent, you can simply drag and drop the post to another date and it will be automatically scheduled at the same time as you have set on that new date.
How to get more social shares?
Now that we have set up our social profiles and automated our social media posts, how do we get more shares? Well, there’s a solution for that as well and it’s called “Curated content“.
What are curated posts?
Curated posts are posts you can add to the curated listing of Missinglettr. Here users like me and you can find interesting articles, videos, and podcasts to share with our followers and share our content to other publishers to share as well.
Why share curated content?
A big question a lot of users ask is “Why should I share other bloggers/podcasters / etc. content?” and the reason is simple. Social media should never be treated as something that you use to get, but as something, you use to give. This way your followers will find your social media profile useful and it will gather traction much much faster.
The second problem many have is that they can’t find quality content to share, this is the problem the “Curated content” tackles by offering topically curated content that helps you find high-quality content from WordPress, Technology, or whatever the topic might be your looking for from.
Adding your content to the curated content
Of course, what most of us want is to get our content shared. To do this you are going to need the “Pro” -plan, so if you haven’t subscribed for the “Pro” -plan, do it now by clicking here.
After subscribing to the “Pro”-plan click on the “Curated content” area and select “Promote” from the right menu.
After that, you should see your own “Promoted” area, though for you it’s probably empty before you start adding your own posts to the ´”Curated content” area.
Below you can see some of our real stats and shares and as you can see the “Curated content” area is a powerful tool to gather more visitors and followers.
To add a new curated post simply click the blue “+“-button on the bottom right corner to start creating your curated post. The first thing you’re asked is if you want to use existing content (drip campaigns) or if you wish to add something completely new though either way is acceptable. For this example, we will be using the “Any other external content” choice.
Few important things to notice when creating a new curated post. On the right, you can see the “Title” and “URL“.
- Title — The title that will be shown in the curated content area and the URL is where the user is taken when clicked so be sure to check you add the right and remember to add the URL to the post itself since it will be shared to social media so users in that specific social media can then click and move to your content.
- Categories — Tell which categories the curated post you just created will be added to.
- Tag and topics — Allow you to add tags and topics so if people look for example “HowTo” posts they can find your content easier that way.
- Language — Tells curated content searchers what language your content is published in.
- Countries — If you wish you can also restrict your content to certain countries, meaning only users from those countries will be able to see your curated posts and share them.
How to track your curated posts?
After creating and submitting your post to the curated content area you can track your shares and clicks in your “Promote” area. Here you can see some of our curated post stats.
- Posts — Number of posts shared to curated posts area
- Queued — Number of posts queued by other users to be shared on their social media pages
- Audience — Potential reach of the posts we have shared
- Shares — Number of posts already shared
- Clicks — Number of clicks that have been generated through these curated posts
- Quality score — How much our posts are liked. Quality score lowers if your posts have been blocked or reported by other users or removed by staff. This is to ensure the quality of all content shared to the curated content area stays high.
